Mixed Mode Delivery
This course is offered in mixed mode delivery which is the combination of a 1 day training course, after the successful completion of a workbook. Using this approach, people can work through some of the course content in their own time and only attend one day of classroom instruction.
This course provides the participant with the knowledge and skill to confidently recognise and respond to an emergency situation requiring first aid. The course is designed for the general public or students requiring a unit of competency for First Aid.

- Principles of First Aid including legal issues
- Infectious Diseases and Hygiene
- Basic Human Anatomy and Physiology
- Management of the conscious and unconscious casualties
- Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
- Airway Management
- Bleeding
- Shock recognition and treatment
- Burns types and treatment
- Fractures and Soft Tissue Injuries
- Head Injuries
- Eye and ear Injuries
- Chest, Pelvic and Spinal Injuries
- Diabetes, Epilepsy, Stroke, Asthma
- Heart conditions
- Extremes of heat and cold
- Poisons, Bites and Stings
Duration
15 hour (incorporating workbook and 8 hour face-to-face training)
8 hour (Refresher Course)
Assessment
Competency based and a formal practical assessment.
Certification Validity
Three years
CPR component recommended annually
Course Accreditation
The course is nationally recognised through inclusion on the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).
