Course Aims
This course provides those who are required to use oxygen resuscitators in the workplace or in other public places with the necessary knowledge and skills.

The training enables those who are trained first aiders to deliver oxygen resuscitation and therapy to an injured or ill casualty according to workplace or community first aid policy and procedures.

Content

• Anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system
• The common respiratory conditions which require supplementary oxygen
• Oxygen devices
• Administration of oxygen
• Indications and contraindications
• Selection and insertion of oropharyngeal airways. (Additional module for those who require training in this procedure)
• Use of suction devices. (Additional module for those who require training in this procedure)

Duration
4 hours
2 hour (Refresher Course)

Assessment
Competency based and a formal practical assessment.

Certification Validity
One year

The course is nationally recognised through inclusion on the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).
