Course Aims
This course provides the participant who is already a trained first aider with the knowledge and skill to confidently recognise and respond to a cardiac arrest and initiate automated external defibrillation.

The course is designed for individuals or organisations according to workplace or community first aid policy and procedures.

• Anatomy and physiology of the heart
• The common cardiac conditions which lead to cardiac arrest
• Introduction to the AED
• Use and safety
• Specifications of the device

Duration
4 hours

Assessment
Competency based and a formal practical assessment.

Certification Validity
One year
