Course Aims
This course provides the participant with the knowledge and skill to confidently recognise and respond to an emergency situation requiring advanced first aid techniques. It also enables the participant to provide support in running a workplace medical centre.
The course is designed for individuals or organisations according to workplace or community first aid policy and procedures.

- Examination of a casualty
- Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Advanced Resuscitation techniques
- Trauma and bleeding
- Shock
- Burns and scalds in the workplace.
- Head and spinal injuries. Immobilisation techniques
- Eye and ear injuries
- Chest injuries
- Heart conditions
- Industrial environmental exposure
- Industrial toxic hazards
- Psychological hazards
- First aid rooms
- Documentation
- Immobilisation and transport
- Musculoskeletal injuries
- Triage
- Medications in the workplace

Duration
32 hours
24 hours (Refresher Course)
Assessment
Competency based and a formal practical assessment.
Certification Validity
Three years
Advanced Resuscitation component must be renewed annually.
Course Accreditation
The course is nationally recognised through inclusion on the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).
